We have seen their effects, we have experienced them. But, who knows what? You never knew what goes on with the weather.
La Nina is described as cooler-than-normal sea surface temperatures. While, El Nino is like La Nina's brother, the totally opposite and attention grabbing brother. This is described as warmer-than-normal sea surface temperatures in the same area of the Pacific Ocean.
We're already seeing affects of the building La Nina. A typical La Nina winter will feature drier and milder conditions across the SouthEast Asia, much like what we're seeing in the current Southeast drought and elevated fire conditions. It will also become wetter than normal, and will have cold periods. Typically, a La Nina lasts 9 to 12 months, while an El Nino will last roughly a year.
How could you not know? See its effects, experience it. And know what it is.
